Kathleen Burckhardt – Summer Children’s Creative Dance

CREATIVE SUMMER DANCE FOR CHILDREN and YOUTH

Dear Friends!

I have a good friend from here in the valley, Kathleen Burckhardt, who has been involved with many forms of dance since she was quite young. She is now in her 20s and just graduated from university in Oregon where she studied English and was involved in a lot of dance performances (including Irish, bollywood, folk dance, and modern dance) and classes (ballet, modern, ballroom).

Now that she is back in the valley, I am excited to say that she is willing to share one week of daily creative dance lessons with us in July!

Kathleen has been dancing since she could stand on her own two feet. She has extensive experience with ballet, eurythmy, modern, classical jazz, Irish dance, and folk dance. In the past year she performed two lengthy contemporary pieces at her university. She has taught creative dance at Lila Music Center in the past and now comes back with new passion to share her excitement in movement and the exploration of space and body.

Classes will include the exploration of rhythm and movement, space, and self expression. For the older students some basic technique and more advanced focus on movement patterns will be investigated.
